Merry Christmas! I have much to be thankful for this year. This is a time in my political life that is very sweet, and it’s not for any of the reasons that you probably think. It’s just so great to be able to shake hands or express my appreciation to residents without worrying that someone might feel that I’m campaigning for their vote.
During the election campaign season which, by the way, seems to last for six months, all things are perceived to revolve around politics. I don’t like that feeling. My motives are, and always have been to do what’s best for Richfield.
Since we’re in that sweet time, I’ll hurry and share a few things that are on my mind. First, look out for your pets during this cold time of the year. Whether they’re outside or inside, make sure they have some shelter. A friend recently suggested to me that if each of us spent one night outside with our pets, we’d quickly make some changes in our accommodations for them.
Second, we all have neighbors or acquaintances whose families are far away. They don’t have visitors, and seldom have someone say that they are loved. Tell them that you care and you love them. You do, don’t you?
Next, please attend the Christmas Carol Processional event on the City Park this Saturday. Converge on the park from all directions at 7:00 p.m. Song lyrics are posted at richfielcity.com or copies are available at our office. Bring your friends and some hot chocolate. A candle light would also be great. Hopefully, a community tradition will be started.
Finally and above all, may you buckle up, drive safely and have a Happy Christmas. May God bless you every one.
